OpenLogic Enterprise 4.4 Automates Proactive Open Source Governance

Press release

Sixty new open source software products added to Certified Library

BROOMFIELD, Colo., April 2, 2007 -- OpenLogic, Inc., a provider
of enterprise open source solutions encompassing hundreds of open source
packages, today announced OpenLogic Enterprise 4.4, with new Enterprise
Policy Management functionality designed to help enterprises proactively
control the use of open source within their organization. OpenLogic has
also added more than 60 new open source products to the OpenLogic Certified
Library.

OpenLogic Enterprise 4.4 provides improved enterprise-wide management
of open source policies across the enterprise. The new functionality
includes:
-- Centralized policy management: Enables legal and compliance staff to
define and enforce open source policies by open source package,
license, user, group or system.
-- Proactive filtering: Based on policies enterprises can filter what open
source packages individual users can see and can install from the
OpenLogic Certified Library.
-- Tailored group policies: Enterprises can apply specific policies to a
team of developers working on a particular application.
"Enterprises are very concerned about ensuring compliance with open
source policies and open source licenses," said Steven Grandchamp, CEO of
OpenLogic. "This requires diligent governance of the usage of open source
packages. OpenLogic Enterprise 4.4 provides a proactive approach to open
source governance by enforcing policies at the point when IT and developers
uptake open source software."
Having passed OpenLogic's rigorous 42-point certification process, more
than 60 new open source software packages are included in version 4.4
including Jaxen, Jaxp, JavaGen Ant Modules (JAM), Java Data Objects (JDO)
and nHibernate. The OpenLogic Enterprise Certified Library now contains
more than 260 certified open source packages.
Earlier in March, OpenLogic announced the addition of more than 60
Solaris open source products to its certified open source library.
OpenLogic Enterprise users can now access and manage open source products
for Solaris 10 as well as Linux and Windows.
"The key to open source adoption is assurance that the solutions are
legitimate alternatives to their proprietary counterparts -- with the same
services and guarantees that large enterprises are accustomed to," said
Andrew Aitken, managing partner of Olliance Group. "OpenLogic Enterprise
augments the integrity of a large swath of open source projects, helping
manage corporate open source policies, automating open source software
configuration and integration across multiple platforms, and providing a
level of universal support you'd expect from large legacy vendors."
